Tempest

I went overboard on the final project for an assembler class. My project floated around the computer science department, and one day someone called to offer me a research project.

The original project was a disease propogation simulation written for a 256 processor massively parallel Maspar256. We ported the code to a faster IBM SP1. The SP1 was 16 IBM RS6000 workstations with an internal network that wouldn't allow "crossing". I helped port the code, researched random algorithms, and developed a graphics engine that consolidated results on one processor and output it to the display.

Lucky for me, this project gave me access to the Advanced Visualization Lab.
